Background
About the work
The piece was commissioned by the Wiener Posaunenquartett, formed by four members of the Vienna Symphony Orchestra, for a tour of Japan and China.
The first trombonist has to recite a joke as well as play a short ukulele solo. In Beijing a local colleague kindly took over the spoken text in Chinese; on the Japanese leg Walter Voglmayr told the story himself in Japanese, to the considerable surprise and amusement of the audience.
